The importance of touch
It has been proven that holding and touch contact with a baby are the most important factors responsible for social and mental development in infants. So how does touch work?
-
Massage stimulates the production of the hormone oxytocin, which has a calming and pain relieving effect, which may help with teething (also and essential hormone for breast feeding).
-
Massage lowers stress and helps baby sleep more deeply
-
Massage helps improve sleep and relieve symptoms of colic and constipation
-
Massage helps to prevent baby illnesses by improving their immune function.
-
Massage can assist babies in the crawling to walking curve as it helps with balance and co-ordination.
When parents hold their babies, all of their senses are employed and this is what generates the feeling of love and protection towards their child. Providing the touch is loving and not hurtful or scary it leads to peace, happiness, fulfillment, contentment and a feeling of belonging, trust, safety and security.
" My little one and I really enjoyed our baby massage sessions! Liz is very friendly and welcoming. I loved that it was a small group as it made the sessions feel relaxed and easy to follow. She gave us information to take home which was very useful- especially relating to colic. I'm so pleased that I went to this class and would highly recommend Precious Moments to everyone! "

Yoga benefits
Mind and Body
Our yoga classes are based on Hatha yoga. You will be taught to help your baby and child into carefully developed movements that are beneficial to both growth and development. As well as improve sleep and reduce the symptoms of colic and constipation.
Specially designed sequences support your baby in their diagonal coordination and body awareness, which is required for crawling and walking.
Children will learn to control their emotions, the art of serenity and calm, relaxation techniques to develop self-reliance and reduce anxiety - techniques that they will continue to develop into their adult years.
"Me & my daughter started going to the classes when she was three weeks old and right from the beginning she appeared to enjoy it, as did I! It really gave us the opportunity to have quality time and her to have all my attention and obviously being massaged is giving her so many benefits and it relaxed her so much. I would recommend baby massage to anyone!!"
