Yoga Is a great way to teach children many skills. It is fun! it is balancing, it's achievable for all kinds of bodies, and it's great for engaging the imagination.
Children are very natural yogis, they love to move and play and bend their bodies into varied shapes and forms.
Yoga offers tools for improving strength, flexibility and balance; increasing self-confidence and self-awareness; learning to process sensory information, practicing methods for calming and focusing the mind and encouraging imagination.
Sharing this ancient philosophy in a non-competitive, supportive environment is a gift that serves the children well into adulthood and it feels good to them!
Practicing poses encourages children to clear their mind and focus on the effort. As a result of this single focus to achieve a particular pose or stay balanced, yoga helps children to focus and concentrate in school, several studies note improved performance at school.
Parents may notice how yoga benefits their kids, but the best judges are the kids themselves. Children who have practiced yoga tell teachers and parents that they are able to concentrate better during the day, focus better on their activities, and pay attention to their tasks -- all the finest endorsements!
